Turning on your eSIM after you land

If the eSIM shows no network, these two settings fix it almost every time.

Android

  1. Open Settings > Network & internet > SIMs
  2. Choose the eSIM you installed
  3. Turn Roaming on
  4. Turn Mobile data on for this eSIM

iPhone

  1. Open Settings > Mobile Service (Cellular)
  2. Choose the eSIM you installed
  3. Turn Data Roaming on
  4. Set it as the line for Mobile Data

Travel eSIM questions

What is a travel eSIM?

A travel eSIM is a digital SIM card that you install by scanning a QR code. It gives your phone mobile data in another country without swapping a plastic SIM and without paying roaming charges to your home carrier.

Does the eSIM come with a phone number?

No. These plans are data only: there is no phone number, no calls and no SMS. WhatsApp, Telegram and other apps keep working on your existing number over the eSIM data. If you need a number to receive a verification code, use our virtual numbers instead.

Will my phone work with an eSIM?

Your phone must support eSIM and must not be locked to a carrier. Most iPhones from the XR and XS onwards, Google Pixel 3 and newer, and recent Samsung Galaxy S, Z and A models support eSIM. If your phone has an "Add eSIM" option in its SIM settings, it is supported.

When should I install the eSIM?

Install it while you are on Wi-Fi, ideally before you travel. When you land, switch to the eSIM, turn on Roaming and Mobile data for it, and you are online.

How fast do I get my eSIM?

Most eSIMs are ready a few seconds after purchase. The QR code and the iPhone install link appear in your dashboard and are also sent by email. If an eSIM cannot be issued within 30 minutes, the full price goes back to your balance automatically.

Can I cancel an eSIM?

Yes, as long as it has not been installed on a phone yet. Cancel it from My eSIMs and the price goes back to your balance minus a $0.20 fee. Once an eSIM is installed it cannot be refunded.

How do I pay for an eSIM?

eSIMs are paid from your PVACodes balance. You can top up your balance by card, crypto, Binance Pay and other payment methods. There is no subscription and no contract.

Can I check how much data I have left?

Yes. My eSIMs in your dashboard shows the data used, the data left and the expiry date. We also email you when you have used 80% and 100% of your data, and before the plan expires.
