Brevo OTP Not Received: Why the Code Doesn't Arrive and How to Get It

October 27, 2026

If your Brevo verification code hasn't arrived, the cause is almost always one of four things: a wrong phone number format, an email code sitting in spam, a carrier filter blocking the SMS, or too many requests in a short time. Most of these fix themselves within 15 to 30 minutes once you stop hitting "resend."

This guide is for people stuck at the Brevo (formerly Sendinblue) sign-up or login screen. It covers both email codes and text message codes, because Brevo uses each in different places. One catch up front: Brevo is an email and SMS marketing platform, and it screens new accounts for abuse. Some delays are deliberate, not bugs.

Quick answer

Wait two minutes, check spam and promotions folders, confirm the phone number includes the country code, then request one new code. If you've pressed resend several times, stop for 30 minutes. Repeated requests often trigger a temporary block. If nothing arrives after that, contact Brevo support.

The email code problem

This is the most common case, and the most fixable. Brevo's verification emails come from Brevo's own sending systems, and Gmail often drops them into Promotions or Spam. Outlook and Yahoo are stricter still.

Search your whole mailbox, not just the inbox, for "Brevo" and also "Sendinblue." Older accounts and some system emails still carry the former name, which catches people out.

Check the address you typed. A single swapped letter, like "gmial.com," sends the code to nobody. Go back one step and confirm it.

Corporate email is the weak point. Company mail gateways quarantine messages from marketing platforms, and you may never see them in your own folders. The honest downside of waiting it out: a quarantined message doesn't arrive later on its own. You need IT to release it or you need a different address.

The SMS code problem

Text codes fail more often than email, and for more reasons.

First, number format. Enter the number with the country selected in the dropdown, then type the rest without the leading zero. A UK mobile written as 07700 900123 should be entered as +44 7700 900123, not +44 07700 900123. That stray zero is one of the most common reasons a code never lands.

Second, carrier filtering. Some carriers hold or drop messages from short codes or unfamiliar senders, especially on prepaid plans. Delivery can take anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes, and codes that arrive after about ten minutes are usually expired anyway.

Third, your phone itself. Check that the handset isn't set to block unknown senders, that the message storage isn't full, and that you actually have signal. Switching airplane mode on and off for ten seconds sometimes releases a stuck message.

If you've gone through all of that and still get nothing, the carrier is the likely culprit. Calling them and asking whether they block messages from short codes is a reasonable step, though support quality varies a lot.

Too many resends makes it worse

It feels natural to hammer the resend button. Don't. Verification systems count attempts, and after a handful of requests they usually pause delivery for a while to stop abuse. The behavior is common across platforms: you press resend five times, nothing arrives, and the pause quietly extends.

Stop. Close the tab. Wait at least 30 minutes. Then request a single code and use that one only. If multiple codes finally arrive together, only the latest is typically valid, so ignore the rest.

Using a virtual number for Brevo

Some people try a virtual number because they don't want to give out a personal one. Be realistic about this. Platforms that handle bulk messaging tend to be careful about new accounts, and many reject numbers they recognize as internet-based (VoIP, meaning voice over internet protocol). Whether a given virtual number works can change from week to week, and we can't promise it will for Brevo.

If you decide to try, a paid private number is a better bet than a free public inbox, since public numbers are shared and already burned on many services. PVACodes offers rental numbers for many countries and apps, though availability varies and Brevo support isn't guaranteed. Also remember that if you lose access to the number later, you may lose the ability to recover the account.

Similar problems show up on other platforms. If you're curious how this plays out elsewhere, our guide on Shopee OTP not received covers a closely related set of causes.

When to stop troubleshooting and contact Brevo

If you've waited, tried a clean number format, checked spam, and avoided resend loops, the issue may be on Brevo's side. That includes account review holds, which new sign-ups sometimes hit. Brevo does manually check some accounts before allowing sending features, and that can delay or block verification steps.

Contact their support through the help center. Include the email address you registered with, the approximate time of each attempt, and whether you used email or SMS. Don't send screenshots showing your full code. Tell them what you already tried so they don't repeat the basics.

Frequently asked questions

Why is my Brevo verification code not arriving by email?

Usually it's in spam or Promotions, or a work email filter has quarantined it. Search for both "Brevo" and "Sendinblue." If you typed the address wrong, the code went to someone else, so go back and check the spelling carefully.

How long does a Brevo OTP take to arrive?

Typically a few seconds to two minutes. If nothing shows up after five minutes, more waiting rarely helps. Check your number format and spam folder, then request one new code instead of several.

Why does Brevo say my code is invalid?

You're probably entering an older code. Every resend usually cancels the earlier one. Wait for the newest message, type it without spaces, and enter it before it expires.

Can I use a Google Voice or VoIP number?

Sometimes, but it often gets rejected. Services that send bulk messages tend to filter internet-based numbers. A regular mobile number from a real carrier is the safest option.

Is Brevo the same as Sendinblue?

Yes. Sendinblue rebranded to Brevo, but some emails, help articles, and old accounts still use the former name, so search for both when hunting for a missing message.

I'm locked out after too many attempts. What now?

Wait 30 minutes to a few hours, then try once. If the block persists after a day, contact Brevo support with your registered email and a rough timeline of what you tried.

Does a VPN affect whether I get the code?

It can. A VPN may make your sign-up look suspicious, which sometimes triggers extra checks or silent blocks. Turn it off, use your normal connection, and try once more.

Will Brevo call me instead of texting?

Some verification flows offer a voice call option, but not all do. If you see a "call me" link, it can help when text messages are blocked by your carrier.

What to do first

Start with the cheapest fixes: check spam, correct the phone format, and wait 30 minutes without resending. Most people are unstuck by then. Skip the virtual number route if you have a normal mobile available, since it adds risk for little gain. If the code still doesn't show, write to Brevo support with your timeline instead of trying a tenth resend.
